Day 17 - Rest Day

Today is Tues, our rest and healing day in Lean.  We had to be out of our albergue by 8 am because you can only stay one night.  We found another one, the Saint Francisco just 0.2 km away, at least according to Google.  After 3/4 mi we got there. I had found a short cut, bur Sue saved me before I was completely humiliated in my map reading skills.

10 euros. Private albergue. Our room has 6 beds, private bath.  We have a couple from Brazil as our roommates.

Next we searched for a pharmacy. There are lots of them here. We picked one that had a sign, “English Spoken Here”.  That was correct because we went in speaking English.  The only problem was that the staff did not. We restocked our Tylenol, got pads to cover our blisters, and some magic cream for Sue’s sun burnt nose.

We did some museum touring and toured the Cathedral. All very impressive and amazing.  Most dates from the 11th century.  They built the huge Cathedral when the town had just 5,000 people.

Met an interesting older couple from Cork, Ireland at one museum.  They are 73 and are on their 8th Camino. They are now the oldest we have met.

New country today - Poland!

We keep running in to our friend, Dr. Ed, retired pediatrician fromChicago, retired in the Philippines. He said he had a craving for Chinese food so he found a Chinese restaurant. That got us thinking that Chinese might not be a bad idea. We walked past a stir fry place that looked authentic and looked open. Went in at 7 pm and were told that the kitchen didn’t open until 8pm. Come back then. Who would have thought. We went for a drink and came back at 8:10, only to be told to come back in 10 min. We did. We ate. It was good. Said, “gracias and adios” to the Chinese staff as we left.

King and Queen for the day.
